As a foreigner in Japan, most of what you see tends to be other Japanese. And that makes you very sad because you eventualy actually jump when you see your reflection in a mirror and are like "WHOA a foreigner!" So at places like the Train Station and such, when you DO see another foreigner, you get excited. You catch a glimpse of a cute American/Australian/Whatever and make eye contact and there's just this connection. It's like "I don't know you and I'll never see you again, but I know exactly what you're going through." And in that there's a slight bit of comfort.

But for Pete's sake, it does NOT make you their best friend!! )

    Part 2 of Part 2.
So yeah. Making lifelong friends and whatnot, exchanging emails, rooming, orientation. We chill in Tokyo for two nights and then it's time to end that fairy tale and go meet our host familieeees.

In which Marisa meets her family. )

In which Marisa goes to the hospital. )

Another long story short: You pay a fortune for the doctor to tell you your fine, and then another small fortune for medicine it turns out you really don't need.

Wait, what? Did I timewarp it back to America?

I got pills, but for those of you familiar with Outpost Nine... yes, the DID offer me the butt-medicine.

So! Tune in next week when I tell you about the bathouse trip (which actually wasn't bad at all). See you all later ^^ Marisa out.

AND NOW IT`S TIME FOR THE WACKY MISADVENTURES OF MARISA IN JAPAN.

In which Marisa gets a Visa. )

In which Marisa makes lifelong friends (or some such nonsense). )

Anyway, I must stop now, I gotta help Tomoko-mama with the dishes. I will try to tell more of my story later. Ja ne!

    I live :3
Dude, Im like totally in Japan right now.

Do I have a story to tell you. omgz.

It started out innocent enough. Getting to sleep at 2:15 and waking up at like 3:10 (AM), leaving at 4:30... AM. MWAH I was tired. My flight left at 6:30 but Amy-chan, my noctournal morning-hating best friend managed to call me on my cell at 6:15am to wish me good luck, bless her heart ;-; omg I was ready to cry. But I got on the plane okay and flew to Denver, my first stop.

I sat alone to Denver. It was pretty uneventful.

From Denver I flew to San Francisco. Also uneventful, but I sat next to this really nice lady named Heidi. She was on her way back home to Hawaii.

So my plane lands in San Francisco... )

So I get to Japan and freak out because OMG I didn't know where to meet the AYUSA representative. So I just followed the signs to Customs and who do I see but CYNTHIA! ^-^ And with her is Anne. They are the two other American exchange students to Japan going though this company (Cynthia and I talked over MSN and exchanged photos) so we clung together and got to customs.

    What. A. Nightmare.

BUT that is another story for another day. Tune in next time for the adventures of MARISA and her QUEST FOR THE GODDAMN VISA. *dadadadum* Same bat-time, same bat-channel. Yay!

    omg first post yayz
So. My name is Marisa and I'm going to Japan.

I'm not there yet. I'll arrive in Narita on April 2nd, and from there, I will be carted off to a city about 45 minutes away from Tokyo. Yaaay.

I actually do not know if I will have internet access to update this site or not. ^___^;; But I will find a netcafe, somewhere, (they're everywhere in Japan, don'cha know) and I will keep my readers -- both of you -- posted. :3

    Wish me luck, everyone!
